THE STORY BEHIND LUMOS PRO-STUDIO
I’m Sonja Visser, the founder, photographer and creative director at Lumos Pro‑Studio.
My journey began with curiosity and a willingness to explore every corner of photography. I photographed families, couples, newborns, seniors, a wedding, pets, you name it... I tried it.
Each experience taught me something new, but one thing became unmistakably clear: the work that energised me most was the kind that helped businesses grow.
Seeing my images on a client’s website, hearing how their brand presence transformed, and watching their confidence rise, that’s when everything clicked. I realised I wanted to create visuals with purpose. Visuals that elevate. Visuals that matter.
That’s how Lumos Pro‑Studio found it's direction: Intentional, strategic photography for brands that want to stand out.

More About My Story
Where it started
I have always had a great love for photography. It all started when my parents got me a small Sony camera for my tenth birthday. I remember taking photos of literally everything. Spending hours trying to work on different angles and just playing around really. I took that camera with me on every family holiday and every school trip.
After graduating high school, I went to the USA for two years. Traveling and taking photos over weekends while doing Au Pair work during the week became the new norm. Self portraits, photos of all the beautiful places and historical sites, lifestyle photos of my host children and a bunch of planned photoshoots with all of my new friends all became part of living "The American Dream."
At the age of 26, I had a turning point. I realised how quickly life can change, and that I wanted to pursue something that truly matters to me.
My partner and I sat in our living room one Sunday morning. I told him that my dream is to own my own studio one day and that I wish I could be a product photographer. His words to me was: "But what is stopping you?" That same day we went to a few different stores to purchase a bunch of products, so that I can start to build up a portfolio and that’s when I chose to pursue my hobby and follow a path that allows me to combine creativity, purpose, and connection.
HOw it is going
Everything started to fall into place. As clients began requesting different types of photoshoots, I followed the curiosity and explored a wide range of niches. From family, couples, maternity, newborn, seniors, weddings and pets photography, to product, brand, and corporate photography. I enjoyed each experience, but the work that truly stood out to me was the kind that helps businesses elevate their online presence and strengthen their branding.
Today, I specialise in product photography for skincare, health, and wellness brands, as well as brand and corporate (portrait & headshot) photography, while still keeping the door open to other niches that inspire me. I approach every shoot with intention and heart and enjoy helping businesses to elevate their brand with striking product visuals.
