For me, photography is more than just creating beautiful images — it’s about telling stories, sparking emotion, and capturing the moments that matter. It's about providing solutions to businesses who are struggling with their marketing because of average photos of their great products. Let's face it, a bad photo can make or break your brand.
I have always had a great love for photography. It all started when my parents got me a small Sony camera for my tenth birthday. I remember taking photos of literally everything. Spending hours trying to work on different angles and just playing around really. I took that camera with me on every family holiday and every school trip.
After graduating high school, I went to the USA for two years. Traveling and taking photos over weekends while doing AuPair work during the week became the new norm. Self portraits, photos of all the beautiful places and historical sites, lifestyle photos of my host children and a bunch of planned photoshoots with all of my new friends all became part of living "The American Dream."
At the age of 26, I had a turning point — I realised how quickly life can change, and that I wanted to pursue something that truly matters to me.
My partner and I sat in our living room one Sunday morning. I told him that my dream is to own my own studio one day and that I wish I could be a product photographer. His words to me was: "But what is stopping you?" That same day we went to a few different stores to purchase a bunch of products, so that I can start to build up a portfolio and that’s when I chose to pursue my hobby and follow a path that allows me to combine creativity, purpose, and connection.
Everything just started to fall in place. People started to request other types of photoshoots, and of course I went with it. I realised that photos are all that we have to hold on to when loved ones leave us. So taking photos of families and special occasions, got a new meaning to me.
Today, I specialise in product photography for skincare, health, and wellness brands, as well as professional and personal branding portrait photography, while still keeping the door open to other niches that inspire me. Whether I’m helping businesses elevate their brand with striking product visuals, capturing the spirit of a beloved pet, or preserving special moments through portraiture, I approach every shoot with intention and heart.
Through Lumos Pro-Studio, I’m also proud to support causes close to my heart — especially using pet photography to help animals in need, find their forever homes through BarkingMad SA.
I know the importance of specialicing in only one Niche, but it is really hard to do so if Photography in general is something you enjoy with all of your heart. So yes. My Commercial photography skills are good, but it fills my heart with so much joy to be able to spend time on portrait & lifestyle as well as pet photography as well.
